how can you get involved?
Living On Campus?
Bag your recycling separately from waste and bring it down to specially marked recycling bins found in each of the dorms on campus. Make sure to only include items that are recyclable. If you are unsure what can be recycled, please see the image below for guidance.
Living Off Campus?
Recycling while living off-campus may seem more challenging, but students still have a variety of options they can choose from, depending on how and where they choose to live.
Living in an Apartment?
If you are living in an apartment, you cannot purchase your own recycling bin, however some of the apartment complexes surrounding Miami University include recycling bins were you may bring your recycling. However, if your apartment does not have recycling included, there are two drop-off locations were you can bring your recycling. These are easily found in the Ditmer Field Parking Lot (across the road from the Miami Equestrian Center) and Behind TJ Maxx (426 Wells Mills Dr.). Please see the Recycling Locations page for more information.
Living in a Residential Property?
If you are living in a residential property and do not currently have a recycling bin, you can obtain a red, 14-gallon container from Rumpke recycling by calling the Utility Department at (513) 524-5221. If these bins are not large enough for your needs, a larger green waste wheeler can be purchased for an initial $1 fee, with a $3.80/month fee. However, following February 1st, the initial fee will be gone, and the recycling fee will become $4.25/month. In order to obtain these bins, the person whose name is on the water bill must request one from the city of Oxford.
In order to get recycling services for your house, all you need to do is have the person whose name is on your water/refuse utility bill to send an email to Carole or Lisa from the City of Oxford ([email protected] or [email protected]). They will need to provide their name, address, and state that they’re signing up for recycling services.
